Transgender Focus - 3/20/12

Learning to live with our gender identity, sexual orientation, ability/disAbility, spiritual background and current grounding, racial and ethnic identity, and all the other components that make up who we are can be quite a journey, on a daily basis.  I am choosing to focus on transgender issues and aging in this post.

We are lucky to have KCTS 9 here in Seattle and I am grateful for the wonderful showing of the movie "I"m not Les: A Transgender Story" about a transgender person (male to female) who makes their transition at  70 years old.  Here is the link:

Thankfully, this link also gives lots of resources for transgender folks and I encourage people to view these.

We are fortunate to have Marsha Botzer, transgender activist and consultant here in Seattle.  Her website it http://www.botzerconsulting.com/

I encourage people who may be exploring transgender issues to consider contacting Marsha and/or the Seattle Counseling Services at 206-323-1768.

Sally Friedman who is a caregiver lgbtq friendly advocate with Senior Services is also available to talk with at 206-727-6260 or sallyf@seniorservices.org
